Financial Planning & Analysis Manager
Our client, a leading financial services organisation in Malta, is seeking a highly analytical and technically driven Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager to join its Finance function. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong financial planning, business intelligence, and data analytics expertise to play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making through insightful financial reporting, automation, and performance analysis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the Bank's financial planning and analysis capabilities by developing dashboards, streamlining reporting processes, automating analytical workflows, and leveraging technologies such as Power BI, Python, SQL, and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Working closely with senior management and key stakeholders across Finance, you will contribute to strategic initiatives while continuously improving reporting efficiency and analytical capabilities.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys combining strong commercial acumen with technical expertise to deliver meaningful insights that drive business performance and support organisational growth.
What is expected of you?
- Lead and support the preparation of routine and ad hoc management reports, including financial performance reporting, business line analysis, segment reporting, and KPI dashboards
- Produce insightful financial analysis to support senior management in making informed strategic and operational decisions
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visualisations using Power BI to transform complex financial data into meaningful business insights
- Design, develop, and automate financial models and reporting processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and reporting accuracy
- Utilise Python and SQL to support advanced financial analysis, automation initiatives, and quantitative modelling
- Develop scalable automation tools that streamline data collection, processing, validation, and reporting activities
- Prepare reports, presentations, and financial analysis for senior management, executive committees, and governance forums
- Develop, monitor, and analyse key performance indicators to evaluate financial performance and identify trends and business opportunities
- Apply advanced data visualisation techniques to effectively communicate financial and operational performance
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and analytical solutions that support the FP&A function
- Lead initiatives aimed at integrating Power BI, Python, SQL, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 to enhance reporting capabilities and system efficiencies
- Act as a key point of contact between the FP&A team, Finance, and other business units across the organisation
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on cross-functional projects that improve operational efficiency and support business objectives
- Translate complex financial models and technical concepts into clear and understandable information for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Research, evaluate, and implement best practices in financial planning, business intelligence, reporting automation, and data analytics
- Stay up to date with emerging financial technologies, reporting tools, and analytical methodologies to drive innovation within the Finance function
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across financial reporting processes, analytical models, and data management practices
- Support additional projects and responsibilities assigned by management as required
What are you expected to bring?
- A minimum of 4–5 years' experience within Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business Controlling, Financial Analysis, or a similar analytical finance role within the banking or financial services industry
OR
- A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience together with an MQF Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Business Management, or a related discipline
OR
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience within FP&A, Business Controlling, or a similar analytical finance role
- An MQF Level 5 qualification in Finance, Data Analytics, Business Management, or a related discipline will also be considered, subject to the required experience
- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and business performance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard development, reporting, and data visualisation
- Strong programming skills in Python and practical experience using SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or similar ERP platforms will be considered an asset
- Excellent analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to convert financial information into actionable business insights
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- A proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for automation, continuous improvement, and leveraging technology to optimise financial reporting
- A postgraduate certification in Python and/or SQL will be considered an advantage
