Head of Client Accounting

This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality accounting services across a diverse client portfolio while ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAPSME, GAAP, tax regulations, and statutory obligations. The selected candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, strengthening client relationships, and leading a high-performing accounting team.

What is expected of you?

• Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of Accounts Managers, Senior Accounting Officers, and Accounting Officers
• Conducting regular performance reviews and supporting professional development across the team
• Managing departmental resources and workloads to ensure timely delivery of client and internal deadlines
• Overseeing the end-to-end preparation and review of financial statements across a varied client portfolio
• Acting as the main point of contact for client audit processes and liaising with external auditors
• Overseeing payroll processing, VAT compliance, and related statutory obligations where applicable
• Ensuring all accounting deliverables comply with IFRS, GAAP, GAPSME, local tax regulations, and statutory filing requirements
• Reviewing and improving accounting procedures to drive operational efficiency and accuracy
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering tailored financial solutions
• Identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and cross-sell additional firm services
• Collaborating closely with Tax and Company Secretarial departments to provide seamless client support
• Staying up to date with evolving accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry regulations
• Driving process improvements and supporting digital transformation initiatives within the accounting function
• Maintaining professional warrants and CPD requirements in line with Maltese regulatory standards

What are you expected to bring?

• University degree in Accounting, ACCA qualification, or equivalent professional certification
• Extensive experience in a senior accounting role within a CSP or professional services environment
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, GAPSME, tax compliance, and statutory reporting
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical financial matters to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment
• Commercial awareness and client-focused mindset
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Adaptability to evolving regulations, technologies, and operational requirements
