Tax Officer
The selected candidate will work closely with the Head of Tax, accounting teams, and client representatives to ensure accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and the effective handling of tax-related matters across a diverse client portfolio.
What is expected of you?
- Preparing and reviewing corporate income tax returns, VAT filings, and other tax-related submissions
- Assisting with tax computations, deferred tax calculations, and tax provisions for statutory reporting purposes
- Ensuring timely compliance with local tax deadlines and filing obligations
- Supporting transfer pricing and economic substance compliance processes
- Preparing tax packs, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for statutory audits
- Monitoring tax deadlines and maintaining compliance calendars to prevent late filings and penalties
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation, case law, and regulatory developments
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, memos, and presentations relating to tax matters
- Supporting the onboarding of new clients from a tax perspective, including tax registrations and compliance checks
- Responding to client VAT and tax queries in a professional and timely manner
- Working closely with accounting teams and other departments to provide integrated client solutions
- Liaising with tax authorities regarding queries, audits, assessments, and regulatory requests
- Supporting process improvements and contributing to internal tax policies, checklists, and working papers
- Participating in ongoing professional development, training, seminars, and industry updates
What are you expected to bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Taxation, Law, or a related field
- Part-qualified or currently pursuing ACCA, ADIT, MIT, or equivalent professional qualifications
- Previous experience within tax compliance, accounting, or a related role in a professional services or financial services environment
- Good understanding of Maltese corporate tax legislation, VAT, and international tax frameworks
- Familiarity with transfer pricing and economic substance requirements is considered an asset
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Professional, client-focused, and detail-oriented approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting or tax software
